Picked to come off clean. Here's how we decide.
Every product in a kit gets one of three labels. We check what it's made of, what surface it's going on, how damp that spot gets, and how long you'll leave it up.
The three labels
- Removable
Comes off by hand with no tools and no residue on the surfaces listed.
Example: Wall treatment: NuWallpaper x Morris & Co. Rosehip Stripe Peel & Stick Wallpaper, Boughs Green (MCS6610)
How it comes off: Lift a corner and peel slowly at a low angle; warm stubborn spots with a hair dryer and wipe any residue with warm soapy water.
- With care
Comes off clean if you follow the removal steps in your kit.
Example: Floor tile: FloorPops x Chris Loves Julia Bonneville Peel & Stick Floor Tiles, Jade (FP6332)
How it comes off: Warm each tile with a hair dryer and lift from a corner; clean leftover adhesive with warm soapy water or an adhesive remover safe for the original floor.
- Ask your landlord
Needs permission first. We include a message you can send.
Example: Wall paint
How it comes off: Paint doesn't come off. You'd repaint the original color before you move out, so ask first.
Real removals
Every removal we show comes with its conditions: what it was stuck to, how long it was up, and how it came off. A tile peeled off right after it went up isn't proof.
Three things that protect your walls.
- Photograph the room before you start, and keep the photos.
- Test a small piece somewhere hidden and leave it for a few days.
- Keep the original hardware, labeled, in a bag.
What we can't promise.
We pick products designed to come off clean, and we give you the steps. We can't control every wall, every paint job or every landlord. If something's unclear, choose “Ask your landlord” and send the message.
